“Historic Qld” Club Display and Parade Laps + Cruise @ Morgan Park Raceway
Jul 2 @ 6:15 am

Now for something different.

The HRCC (Historic Racing Car Club Qld) have invited the HSV Owners Club to attend one of their marquee events for the year, the “Historic Queensland Motor Race Meeting” at Morgan Park Raceway Warwick on Sunday 2nd July.

The format for the day will be a cruise to Warwick from Redbank, club display trackside followed by some parade laps on the famous Morgan Park Raceway circuit around lunchtime. You will be free to leave after the parade laps, or more than welcome to stay on for the remainder of the day.

The day will also include plenty of on track action including Formula Cars, Pre-60’s Cars, Sports cars, Touring cars and Sports sedans from the 1920’s to the 1980’s.

The cruise will be from Redbank S/C (bottom) car park, meeting at 6:15m for a 6:30am departure, planning to arrive at Morgan Park between 8 and 8:30am.

The HRCC have given the club a discounted price to attend also. Normally $20 per person ($15 concession) – the HRCC have generously offered $20 per car admission, regardless the of number of people in your vehicle, which is a fantastic deal!

So, time to get up bright and early on a crisp July morning, head on out to Warwick for an action packed day coupled with some laps on one of Australia’s “best kept secret” race tracks!!

If you wish to attend, please confirm with Andrew Roberts using the contact details above and we hope many of you join us for what is bound to be a fantastic day!

Jul 16 @ 8:00 am

We will be doing a cruise from Stellarossa Coffee Shop at Park Ridge to Mavis’s Kitchen at Mt Warning on the 16th July Cruise is to replace the cancelled Rivermill Cruise that unfortunately appears to have shut their doors after the floods.

Get ready for another one of my long cruises with some beautiful country side to be covered, winding roads and some fantastic views of the Hinze Dam.

The cruise meeting spot will be same as this year’s Unofficial Cruise at THE NEW CRUISE MEETING POINT PARK RIDGE TOWN CENTRE 3752 MT LINDESAY HIGHWAY – PARK RIDGE (Corner Mt Lindesay Hwy and Park Ridge Rd) further directions can be found on the club’s website.

Meeting time will be 8:00am for a 8:30am departure. Come down early and enjoy breakfast at Stellarossa Coffee Shop with your fellow club members before heading off for yet another fantastic day.

The cruise will leave at 8:30am sharp and head towards Beaudesert where we will do a quick toilet stop before heading west towards Tambourine and down through Canungra and on to the Hinze Dam where will stop at the View Café. It is here where we will have morning tee and stay for about an hour, enjoy the views and have a light morning tea. From here we will travel through the Numinbah Valley towards Murwillumbah turning right towards Mount Warning. With stops this should land us at Mavis’s Kitchen at about 12:30 pm for lunch.

Lunch will be alternative drop with a main meal and desert. Cost is $42.50 per Adult Drinks available at the bar. Bookings will need to made no later than one week prior to the 16th July with money to paid at the venue. Cancelations after this will still require full payment or the club will be out of pocket any meals ordered.

Event will conclude at 9.00am.

Please note – Unfortunately Lakeside raceway has many sensitive neighbours so to help Queensland Raceways reputation and our own could you please ensure that we arrive and exit the venue and surrounds in a manner not designed to attract attention. We want the venue to keep its community licence to operate well into the future.

Rules for Happy Laps – (They may seem onerous but the vast majority attending will have participated before and have always left smiling and asking to do it again – So here’s your chance)

HAPPY LAPS ARE NOT HOT LAPS or TEST LAPS

Happy Laps are for family cruising NOT performance driving,

So;

  • Any car-to-car contact is an instant stop for the session
  • Any car going off the track is an instant stop for the session
  • 1 sec of tyre smoke is an instant stop for the session
  • Speed obviously in excess of 120kph is an instant stop for the session; this is more than fair as there are sprints and drag events that hot drivers can participate in if they want to go fast.
  • In addition, during Happy Laps;
  • No helmets are to be worn by anybody
  • No unregistered or trailered cars are permitted on the track
  • No cars fitted with aftermarket roll cages
  • All cars must have current registration and plates must not be obscured
  • Drivers may be breath tested including by the Police – anyone reading more than 0.00 will be banned from the track
  • QR will name and shame drivers who push the limits and cause a session to be cancelled

RSVP – Final numbers are needed by the TUESDAY prior to the event date via email [email protected] Please indicate your name and number attending. If you want to pay by Credit Card in advance we need your, number, expiry and ccv and I will process Friday before the event. The club has to advise and pay in advance so if you advise your attendance we need your payment. The event is being run at no profit to keep prices reasonable so what we charge is what we have to pay QR.

I look forward to seeing you there for Breakfast and some fun on one of the most iconic race tracks in Australia and one steeped in a rich motorsport history.

2017 DRAG RACING PROGRAM
Willowbank Raceway

Date – Saturday October 14th 2017

Time – 2.00pm for a 2.30pm to 4.00pm Session and you can stay on for the 4.00pm open practice at no extra cost

Cost is $80.00 per entrant which includes 1 other spectator in that car. This is payable by cash/cheque/Credit card to the club on the day. Special pricing is available for same car significant other grudge matches. Please ask.

We will meet you at the front gate and issue you with your entry form and two entry tickets per car upon receipt of payment.
Additional spectator cost is $20 per Adult, $18.00 per student with ID and kids 13 and under are free. This is payable on entry at the gate on the day. Spectators can park inside as there is always plenty of room at the back of the tower on test and tune days.

Willowbank Raceway trackside café will be open.

Your car does not need to be registered nor does it need to be a HSV or HDT. We have no maximum competitor numbers and we have had up to 35 in the past with every one getting more than enough track time. We could easily cater for up to 50 so invite your friends along to compete and settle those long standing arguments once and for all. We don’t mind a bit of any Brand verse HSV/HDT action. If your car runs faster than 10.99 seconds please see Willowbank raceway website for special additional requirements.

Clothing requirements
Minimum Long sleeve shirt, full length pants and closed footwear.
Australian Standard Helmet required

If you are competing you will be issued with 2 entry forms at the gate. You will then make your way to the staging lanes where you will complete the Willowbank Raceway form and hand to scrutineer. The second club form will be handed in when you are ready to nominate your target time up to a maximum of 3 test passes. They will check your helmet and issue you with a number and the number will be written on your windows with white boot polish. This washes off afterwards with no damage. At nominated times above the lanes will be open and you will be free to run for 1.5 hours. Time slips are printed for each run and are available at the base of the tower for pick up. The club is supplied all timing information the following week to allow calculation of fastest time. Your entry covers you to stay on and run after 4.00pm in the main test and tune event.

For 2017 we are going to run the dial your own time format for scoring. After a maximum of 3 test passes you will hand in your information sheet which will identify you and your race number and you will nominate your time. Points will be allocated for the closest 2 passes for the remainder of the meet to the nominated time and you will need to compete in both events to qualify for the end of year trophy. The trophies on offer will be First to Third Male and First to Third Female.

If you want to be in the point score you will need to make sure you hand a nominated time form in on the day.

It is always a low stress great fun event. So please come out and have some fun and bring your mates with you. No need to advise your attendance in advance. Just make sure you are at the main gate by the nominated time on the day.
