October 2009
Hi Folks,
This is a great time of the year to get out of the house or the workplace and enjoy the remaining organised Club events. We need the support from the Members with attendance by as many as possible so as to give the Committee the encouragement to keep our momentum for the organisation of more of these great events, and the events will just keep on coming.
We all share the common interest, our stunning HDTs and HSVs, we enjoy cruising in them, we enjoy talking to people that approach us and ask questions about our cars, and we enjoy sharing our experiences and stories with each other about past events and our cars.
Queensland Race Way, the venue for race 15 and 16 of the V8 Super Car Series for the year. And yes the HSV Owners Club of Qld was there on Sunday the 23rd as a Club Event for race 16. What a day! Starting at Redbank Plains Shopping Centre Car Park meeting at 5am for a 5:30am Cruise to Queensland Race Way in convoy. And how good was that being allowed to park our cars on top of the bank along the back straight in full view of the whole circuit? Breakfast and lunch provided by Motorama Holden and cooked by Joel Mullins & crew. What a pleasure to have one of our HSV Dealer Sponsors at this unbelievable event with HRT and Will Davidson starring on the day. What a lead he had over his main rival. The day was fine, sunny and loads of fun and excitement for all present and the parking spot could not have been better.
Sprint day at QR on Saturday the 19th of September with 15 cars lining up on the grid. The first timers at the last sprint day are now becoming old hands at the game. Not forgetting to mention the ladies, what a star performance from Jodie and Michelle. Bernie and the Grange is getting quicker. The price has gone up as the car’s got history! Congratulations to Peter Woods
for organising another great sprint event. Thanks also goes to Motorama HSV Springwood for providing the pit crew for the day.
Will Davidson lead race 16 after Qualifying 6th position charging from the start to second and overtaking Lowndes in grand style to lead by 42 seconds half way through the race and completing the 65 lap race 14 seconds ahead of Lowndes in second place. HRT outright win race 16.
Results for HRT after race 16 at Queensland Race Way Sunday 23rd August 2009.
Drivers Championship Points
Will Davidson 2nd 1,824 points
Garth Tander 3rd 1,479 points

Phillip Island race 17 saw Will Davidson march up to the second position very early in the race, by lap 13 Davidson was told to conserve fuel, very hard to do with Alex Davidson his brother breathing down his neck in a Ford. By lap 35 Will was only .2 of a second behind the race leader. At lap 57 Tander challenged Lowndes for 1st position and the battle raged on with HRT having text book pit stops. Lap 88 Tander nailed Lowndes. Lap 91 the dog fight began between Tander and Lowndes, lap 97 saw 100th of a second between Tander in the lead and Lowndes in second. Lap 98 saw Lowndes take the lead back from Tander and then the big one, lap 113 Tander took the lead and won the Enduro at the Island. CONGRATULATIONS HRT! Another awesome win, definitely the best team of the weekend! Again!
