Hi Folks,
The release of the E Series 2 to our Club Members on Friday 25th September happened at Zupps Aspley. With 2 ClubSport models only arriving at the Dealership at 4pm that day they were hastily prepared by the detailers and placed in the showroom for viewing by the Club before and after our September General Meeting. I have to say Brad Conlan and Ken Robinson defied the odds by driving the cars from the transport company’s holding yard to the Dealership just to make sure the HSV Owners Club of Qld Members were the first in Queensland to see the cars in a Dealership. By being a Club Member this is one of the many privileges we enjoy. A huge thank you to Brad and Ken for going to so much effort to make the Club meeting such a success.
I have a confession to make, at around 4.00pm on Friday the 25th I was behind the wheel of a E Series 2 ClubSport, red in colour with a sunroof, charging around the streets of Underwood co-piloted by Joel Mullins. And what a machine they are! If you are thinking of upgrading just go and drive one and it will be all over, you’ll take it home, I can almost guarantee it.
Sunday October 4th saw the Toowoomba All Holden Day with some of our members staying in Toowoomba on the Saturday night. A further convoy of great looking cars departed Redbank Plains shopping centre at 5.45am Sunday morning cruising through and all meeting up before proceeding to Souths Football Club for the Car Show.
Craig Barass has to be congratulated for organising one of the most impressive displays I believe we as a Club have had in Toowoomba, also a huge congratulations to the many winning entrants. 17 cars in total took part in the car show including the brand new E Series 2 ClubSport driven by Joel Mullins. Most impressive was having the two Walkinshaws as the display feature.
Coffs Harbour weekend from Friday 16th October to Sunday 18th October with most people from the NSW Club and Qld Club arriving at the Opal Cove Resort between 4 & 5pm. On the Friday evening we enjoyed dinner at the resort restaurant around 6.30pm, and it was great to see so many new faces at the weekend especially from the Qld Club, and catching up with the NSW members
A total of 48 people from both Clubs enjoyed an action packed weekend, cruising south of Coffs Harbour to Trial Bay on Saturday, spending time walking through the old gaol then up to the lighthouse at South West Rocks then returning back to Opal Cove Resort for dinner in the Restaurant. Thanks again to HSV for providing a $1,000 towards the Saturday night dinner. However, sadly it was time to return home on Sunday and I am sure most who were there for the weekend will be lining up for next year. WHAT A GREAT WEEKEND!!! Thanks to Allan Mair, Ross Reynolds and Greg Sharp for their efforts to organise the event.
The All Holden Day at Rocklea Show Grounds Sunday 25th October showed again what a capable organizer of Car Show events Craig Barass is, and again the HSV Owners Club of Qld WON the best display at the Show. A total of 21 cars were on display. Congratulations to Adam Webb winning Grand Champion of the Show with his VL Walkinshaw. With a number of entrants winning trophies, well done to all the Club Member entrants, the Club display looked awesome. Great work Craig!
