Hi Folks,

The 2010 year has started with a great meeting at Motorama HSV Springwood on Friday 29th January with fantastic guest speakers including Troy Errington from Revolution Race Gear. Troy provided valuable information on the various types of Race Apparel available including helmets and suits ideal for Club track days also. A huge thanks goes to Troy and Revolution Race Gear for providing giveaways to Members as Lucky Door Prizes on the night.

Belinda Halliwell from the Holden Performance Driving Centre provided an overview of what is available to our Club members at the Norwell facilities and also an insight into what is happening with the Holden Teams based in Queensland, very exciting stuff for 2010. Belinda also provided some great giveaways including a couple of bottles of Sirromet Wines. Thanks again Belinda for a very informative talk.

Finally for the night was Motorama’s master of HSV Joel Mullins with a detailed account of what is on offer to the members of the Club in regards New and Used HSV deals and the specialised HSV Service Centre managed by Peter May. Peter also confirmed he and or members of his HSV Specialist Team would be track side during the Club Track days to help with any problems any of the participants may be having with a car. How good is that? The Club has its own Specialist Pit Crew provided by Motorama HSV Service Department. Joel also organised a fantastic Lucky Door Prize that included a Voucher from The Lions Den for new HSV apparel. Thanks again Motorama HSV and the Team for hosting the first meeting for 2010. Absolutely awesome night! There were 45 members, 11 guests and new members present at the meeting. Thank you to everybody for your support and hope you all had a great night.

Look forward to seeing everybody at the AGM to be held at Zupps Warehouse Coopers Plains on Friday March 26th 2010.

The first official Cruise Run was held on Sunday 14th February 2010 starting from the car park of the Calamvale Hotel departing at 9am cruising in convoy to Beaudesert and stopping at a great coffee shop for a cold drink or Coffee. Followed by proceeding down through Canungra on to Nerang then to the Ashmore Steak & Seafood for a great lunch in absolute air conditioned comfort in the restaurant’s very well presented dining room. Colin Humphreys organised this event in detail making this one of the best Club Member supported events for some time.
Colin, the cruise and the detailed organisation of the places to have Coffee and Lunch were fantastic. When we described previous events as hard to beat, you turn around and organise a Cruise Day even better than before. Thanks Colin for all your hard work and thanks to the Members and their families and guests that joined in on the day - all 73 of you and the 32 cars. What an unbelievable sight it is with this many HSV’s cruising together. Passing motorists and people standing on street corners were getting out cameras and mobile phones taking photos. Thanks also to Brad Conlan, Qld Regional Manager for HSV, for taking time out of his busy schedule and cruising with the Club on Sunday.

Another reminder that the Annual General Meeting is coming up on Friday March 26th at Zupps Warehouse Coopers Plains. The nomination forms for the Committee are in this current magazine. I urge you all to vote for who you want on the Committee for 2010 and don’t leave it to someone else, have your say. If you don’t wish to cut pages out of the Magazine you can download forms from the web site (www.hsvowners.com.au/nomination.pdf).

The next Motor Sport Sprint Day will be held at Queensland Race Way on Saturday March 27th. Peter Woods has organised the events for the whole year and this will be the first. Ring Peter NOW and register for the event. There are only 20 places available so don’t miss out!

June Long Weekend Away

The long weekend from Friday 11th June through to Monday 14th June has been organised at Peppers Resort Hervey Bay. This is a 5 star resort with excellent facilities. We have organised the pricing for 3 nights being, 1 bedroom suite @$169.00 per night or 2 bedroom suite @$228.00 per night. There is a top quality Restaurant on site for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner if you require. Breakfast is $30.00 per head.

A number of people have indicated they will be going on Friday for the 3 nights and for those that can come on Saturday for the 2 nights, that’s OK as well. Currently 20 rooms have been allotted to the Club Members so first in best dressed. Should we need more provided you book early I am sure the resort will allot more rooms. Reservation forms will be available on the Club web page or their direct number is 07 4194 9700. These are always a great weekend so don’t miss out and book early.

The Motor Sport Season is about to begin with the first round in Abu Dhabi on 18th, 19th & 20th February. Looking forward to see how the Holden dominated field pans out. The Desert 400 at Bahrain on the 25th, 26th & 27th February should see many of the new Holden teams start to settle in. Interesting to see that HRT and Bundy Red, are both supported by HSV and are both running out of the HRT headquarters in Clayton.
