Hi Folks,

Again it’s time for the Monthly Magazine and four exciting Club events have occurred. Firstly the Shannon’s Sports & Muscle Car Shootout with Show and Shine. What a great day that was with 31 Club cars in the Show and Shine and later a number of our Club Cars displayed in the Track Parade. A huge thank you to the Club members that participated in the day and congratulations to everybody that won a trophy for their car. Those shiny HDT’s and HSV’s displayed together looked SPECTACULAR.

I have been told by some of the very long term members of our Club that this was one of the largest displays by our Club members in the Show and Shine. Thanks also goes to the 2 HSV Dealership Representatives, Joel Mullins from Motorama Holden at Springwood and Gerard Foster from Zupps at Mt Gravatt for joining in and displaying their new HSV’s in the Club Display. Joel brought the “Gen 3” banners which were great. We welcome all the HSV Dealers and their representatives that support our Club to come and join in on as many, if not all, of our Club events. Peter Woods organized the day and the trophies, we congratulate Peter on a first class job. I also must add that Peter Woods and Bob Matson competed in the Sprints during the 3 days. Congratulations to you both, your sprint cars looked awesome on the track.

The 4th July 2009 went off with a BANG at the Walkinshaw Performance Dyno Day. 19 cars went on the Dyno and a number of Club members came along as spectators and gave support to the day. We thank Shaun and Mark for hosting the event at Walkinshaw Performance Brendale and thank them also for their hospitality which included eats and drinks afterwards. Their support of the Club is most appreciated. Craig Barass organised the day and the trophies and thanks to him the day couldn’t have gone more smoothly. Credit must go to Craig for a fantastic event and I know all the members that attended, join me in congratulating him on a great day.

What an exciting day the TopGear Sprints on Saturday the 18th July at Queensland Raceway were! There were 13 cars with 15 drivers competing on the day and I’m sure that everybody involved will be lining up again for the next round in September. I’m sure any first timers will be encouraged to have a go after they talk to Bernie and Jodie on how much fun they had. Jodie couldn’t wait to get back on the track after her first run. Peter Woods has to be commended for organising a fantastic Club track day and the many hours of his time putting this together for the Club members to enjoy. I encourage old and new members to get involved in the next track day on Saturday the 19th September and give their full support by registering with Peter as soon as possible. Well done Peter, you’re a legend! A special thanks to Motorama Springwood and Peter May for his attendance with the Service Unit Vehicle and supplying the Pit Crew for any of the Members that may have needed mechanical help during the day. It really is fantastic to see the Club have its own Pit Crew supplied by one of our Sponsors. Peter also said he would be in attendance at the next track day. Our huge thanks must again go to Peter!

Our cruise to Toowoomba and lunch at Picnic Point resulted in 26 cars departing from Redbank Plaza on Sunday 19th July with a further 2 cars meeting up in Toowoomba. A total of 54 adults and 7 children for lunch was a great sign of success. Colin Humphreys organized the cruise from Brisbane through the Brisbane Valley, over the Wivenhoe Dam to Esk then up the Range. Stopping at the Cuckoo Clock Shop could have been a very dangerous place to take shopaholics however I narrowly avoided any damage to the Credit Card with a promise to return another day! Lunch at the Picnic Point Restaurant with its stunning views was a befiting way to conclude the Cruise and relax over good food, drinks and conversation. I would like to thank all the members for joining in on the cruise. The convoy looked exciting with all those HDT’s, HSV’s, and even 2 Walkinshaws, an oldie and a newie. Our gratitude goes to Colin for a well organised and attended event and we look forward to the next one!

Remember the next General Meeting will be held at Zupps Mt Gravatt on Friday the 31st July 2009. Come along and support your Club and the host HSV Dealership. Guest speakers for the night include the Territory Manager for Pro Lube, Brendan Watt, and Jason Witt from Ferris Car Care Products. Also a great lucky door prize will be offered to be won on the night. LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL THERE!

The Queensland V8 Supercar Championship Round will be held on August 21st to 23rd. The Club will again be attending with a convoy to the venue with special parking arrangements on Sunday 23rd August. Looking forward to seeing you at this event also.
